Hooray...It's Wednesday!

I love Wednesdays! It's the middle of the working week, and I get a new sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday!

I started new medication for my knee today which is both good news and bad. I really hope this medication works as I've been having issues with my knee since last November now, I can't believe its been so long! On the bad side I'm currently suffering one of the main side effects of the drug - nausea. I've got to take this medication once a week for the next three months and I really hope I don't spend all my Wednesday afternoons feeling sick!!

Oh well, things could be much worse and at least I had a fab sketch to play with when I got home from work. Arlana has created another lovely sketch for us to use, which I decided to flip again this week!

Isn't that a lovely sketch? Pop over to the SSW Blog to see how all the fab DT used the sketch. As well as an assortment of papers, I've used some mini cupcakes and lots of glitter glue to create this card.

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice something a little bit different on this card...yes I've added some embossed cupcakes! This is for the embossing challenge over at the Creative Cottage. The challenge this week is to use either dry or wet embossing on your project. I still haven't got the hang of wet embossing (not sure why but I just can't do it!) so I decided to use my trusty Cuttlebug to make these cute little cupcakes.

I'm off to make a Birthday card that someone at work has requested...its for a man who is turning 50 and he enjoys dancing, piano playing and good wine. I'm looking forward to making this card!

Thanks for stopping by today and thank you to everyone for your lovely comments, I always love reading them.

Sweet Halloween Wishes

Hi there! We've got some friends coming over for dinner tonight...I've used a trusty Nigella recipe which involved throwing a load of ingredients in the oven...Joe has quickly popped out and so I decided to use my spare half an hour to make a card!

Before I share my sweet halloween card with you I just wanted to give a shout out to a company that has helped me at work recently. As part of my job I organise national events for doctors and for the next event I wanted some fun button badges, I searched the internet looking for a company to use and stumbled upon Button Badges. They make button badges to order and offer three different services depending on how much time you've got. They offer a brilliant, quick service and answered all the questions I had...yes I had lots! Their prices are amazing and the end product was brilliant. If you ever need any custom button badges you should give them a try!

Right, onto my card for this evening...can you believe that I managed to miss the Cupcake Craft Challenge last week?? Not sure what happened there, so I decided I better look at their challenge this week and get a card made! They've asked for a project which features a sweet treat with a halloween twist...so I decided to make a cupcake....as you do! Pop over to their blog to see the other sweet halloween projects.

A week or so ago I made a Halloween cupcake card using a kit from the Creative Cottage, this time I decided to make my own spooky cupcake! I've used red and green backing papers and then used a selection of orange and yellow papers to make my halloween cupcake. I accessorised my cupcake with handmade spiders and added some glitter to my icing. I've got limited supplies at Joe's at the moment, so please excuse my dodgy spiders!

Right...all chaos has broken out here...my guests have arrived, dinner is ready and Joe has come back all at the same time....I better get going!

A little bit of Christmas...

...hello everyone, hope you're all keeping well and staying warm. I'm trying to fight off a cold at the moment and so I'm not feeling 100%. Roll on the weekend (thats not a good thing to be saying on a Monday evening!).

I haven't really made any Christmas cards in ages so I thought I'd make a couple....first of all I have something a little bit different to show you....

I like girlie cards, so I decided to try and make a girlie Christmas card! I've used gold card, along with my favourite black and white polka dot card. I used my trusty stencil to create my glam shoes. This card is perfect for two challenges that I've found in the last couple of days:

Crafty Catz - colour challenge - black and white and one other colour
Bah! Humbug! - Elegance

The second card is slightly more traditional, and it features a frosty friend:

I've used silver card and some more polka dot card for the backing, I then created my little snowman out of white card. I've accessorised with some stripey paper for his hat and scarf. This card fits in with the challenge over at Allsorts, where they are calling for projects that feature spots and stripes!

Right, now I'm off to bed...hopefully I'll be feeling better in the morning!

Feeling a little autumnal!

Oh my goodness! Have you noticed anything different about my blog? I'm so happy - I've gained a shiny new badge in the side bar! The wonderful ladies at Sweet Sketch Wednesday have awarded me with their top three badge for last week's spooky cupcake card - thank you ladies! Its always a pleasure to use Arlana's fab sketches each week, and I love stopping by all the wonderful DT blogs to see what they've been up to. I've had a rather stressful evening and it was so nice to come home and find this lovely surprise - it made my evening!

Without further ado here is this week's card for the new Sweet Sketch Wednesday challenge:

I've actually turned the sketch on it's side...I hope thats ok! In the original sketch the flower is on the righthand side....take a peek at the SSW blog and see all the gorgeous DT cards.

I'm also entering this card in two other challenges - both monthly challenges with an autumnal theme.

Penny Black at Allsorts called for a project featuring colours of autumn, and of course a penny black image. As you know I love these cute little mice, they feature on a lot of my cards at the moment! I also love all the gorgeous colours at the moment, deep and vibrant - reds, oranges, browns and whats left of the greenery!

The other challenge I'd like to enter this into is the monthly Sir Stampalot challenge. This month the theme is Autumn Breezes, Buttons and a Bow. For the autumn breezes I decided to opt for the colours of autumn, I have hidden my button on my flower and one of my mice is wearing a red bow!

Pop along to both the monthly blogs to see all the fab DT cards for some inspiration.

Right, I'm shattered....well, there is nothing new there! Thanks again to the wonderful SSW ladies, I was so chuffed to see my name on your blog!

Three cards, three challenges

Hello everyone, hope you're well and having a lovely weekend.

I had such a busy day yesterday with Joe, meeting up with friends that I decided to have a real lazy day today. I have chilled out, made lots of cards, watched some TV and baked some yummy biscuits! Its been bliss! After I finshed making my cards I did a little blog hopping and realised that some of the cards matched some of the fab challenges out there!

Card 1, challenge 1 - Cute Card Thursday - What's buggin' you!

The ladies at Cute Card Thursday wanted projects that feature bugs! I decided to make a really simple card for this challenge. I have used my letter stamps to create the sentiment and then a little butterfly stamp to add all the butterflies. I picked the colours green and purple...not sure why...and decorated each butterfly a little differently. I finished the card with some purple glitter glue.

Card 2, challenge 2 - Allsorts Challenge - let's play bingo

For our game of bingo we were given a grid of elements that we needed to pick a line from. The elements that appeared in my line were button, flower, stickles. This card is a bespoke card that I've been asked to create for a work friend. The brief was an anniversary card featuring funny animals with her partner's name on! These cheeky little monkeys are from a Kanban stamp set and I love them - they make me smile! I have managed to use all my elements in one go - a punched flower with a buttom centre and stickles decoration!

Card 3, challenge 3 - Charisma Cardz - more than one fold

For my more than one fold card I opted for an easel card, I love easel cards because people always find them impressive....you also have extra card to decorate! This is another bespoke card, this time for someone who likes pigs!

Pop over to all the blogs mentioned above to see the gorgeous DT cards on offer - they are all fab! I think its safe to say that my mojo has been found...in fact it was hiding behind the sofa! I think I just needed to little break to get the juices flowing again! Right, I'm off to ice my cute little biscuits...hopefully Joe might come home from the garage soon too...I want my dinner!

A cupcake with a difference...

...hello there....another Wednesday is upon us! As you all know I love Wednesdays because its time for a new challenge from two of my favourite blogs!

I've had a nice evening with my Brownies tonight, we had less girls than normal so we decided to make pizza! The girls loved getting their hands messy with the dough and I have to say they are very creative with their toppings! It was a fun evening! I then came home and got a bit creative with a new mini kit that I've bought from the Creative Cottage, this card is for the Creative Cottage challenge this week where the theme is Halloween:

I told you that it was a cupcake with a difference! This is a fab mini kit with papers and embellishments, Tracy is a very talented lady! Pop over to the Creative Cottage shop to see all her other delights...plus at the moment you can save 20% on anything you buy! As well as the mini kit I added some orange and purple papers from my stash and some fab black glitter - spooky! The DT have all created some fab cards, pop over to their blog and take a peek!

The wonderful layout for this card comes from my other favourite blog...yes you've guessed it...it's from Arlana at Sweet Sketch Wednesday. This is yet another wonderful sketch, and I really enjoyed using it. Take a peek at the blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Finally you'll notice that this isn't a particularly neat offering...there is quite a bit of distressing within my layers. Don't worry...I did it on purpose...this for the "distressing" theme from the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge! I'm not keen on distressing....but I thought it would work well on a spooky halloween card! Take a peek at the blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Right, I'm off for a bit of blog hopping now!
Thanks for popping by today, oh and I wanted to say a big hello to all my new followers!

Er....scary creatures are coming...honest!

Morning All,

I think I'm getting the beginning of some bug...I'm feeling quite lously this morning! Anyway, health report over...I found something really exciting (at least for me) yesterday...I popped over to Cupcake Craft Challenge to see this week's challenge...and found that I'd won last week's top prize! How exciting! I now have $20 to spend at Simon Says Stamp! I haven't got a clue what I want so I am really going to enjoy browsing! Thank you ladies!

The challenge that cupcake have set this week is Scary Creatures, take a peek at the blog to see all the gorgeous DT cards. I have to admit that my card features some little creatures that appear to be more cute than scary...but they are supposed to be cute!!

I'm not that great at Halloween cards and my mojo is still hiding away at the moment, so I decided to aim for a bright, fun "hello" card that could be used on any occasion. I did really enjoy making this card, which is basically made with paper from my stash, some speech bubbles created on my computer and two mini monsters. The finished card really makes me smile!

Right, I'm off to work now, already running late so I better get a wiggle on!

Dancing Queen!

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good day.

Just a quick post for you this evening...I can't believe its nearly 11pm already!

This card is called Dancing Queen and I am entering it in two challenges....first off the theme came from this week's challenge over at Allsorts where we have been asked to create something inspired by a song title. I love a bit of Abba, and have been known to sing along (badly) at the top of my voice to "Dancing Queen" on more than one occasion...I therefore thought it was a brilliant title to inspire a card. Pop over to Allsorts to see all the lovely DT cards for more inspiration. I've used sheet music for "Dancing Queen" on the card, just so everyone knows my inspiration!

Cute Card Thursday's challenge is "make your own"...so no shop bought embellishments allowed! I've created my shoes and dress from paper in my stash...regular visitors will know that I love making things so this challenge was right up my street! For more handmade embellishments pop over to the Cute Card Thursday blog.

Right, I'm off....my bed is calling...there is something about the colder months of the year that just make me want to crawl into bed at every opportunity....maybe I should be hibernating!

Saturday 9 October 2010

Hello there!

Sorry its been a while since my last post....not sure whats been going on really, I just haven't really felt like making any cards! Shock horror I know!! My knee has been playing up again and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself really. Hopefully it won't last though!

For the first time in a week I decided to make a new card.....

The layout for the card has come from the fab sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday and the theme for the card came from Cupcake Craft Challenge where the theme is "Happy Hour". I decided because I am feeling a little gloomy I wanted to make a nice, bright card...when I looked at the final card I decided it reminded me a bit of autumn...those lovely reds and oranges. For that reason I'm also entering it in the Charisma Cardz challenge this week where the theme is autumn colours.

Check out all the blogs mentioned above to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Right, I've got to get going....I'm out in london tonight with my friend Becca. We're having dinner and seeing a movie, I'm really looking forward to it. Then my friend Sheree is popping by tomorrow...but hopefully I'll be back with another card then.

Thanks for popping by today,

Nearly Time For Christmas!

Hello there! How are you today?

My lovely mum took me out for dinner this evening which was really nice...until a group of 16 young girls arrived to celebrate a birthday. I watched as they made lots of noise, laughed at other diners and generally made a nuisance of themselves...then I uttered the words that made me realise that I'm no longer a spring chicken...."I hope we weren't like that when we were their age!" My goodness! When did I stop associating myself with the younger generation?!? I then ranted for about ten minutes about good manners! My poor mum...at least she knows she brought me up properly!

Anyway, I've got a little card for you this evening that is perfect for three different challenges:

This is a Christmas card for a man....something that I've never done before!

Winter Wonderland - A male Christmas card
Charisma Cardz - Christmas

I always struggle with male birthday cards, so when I saw the Winter Wonderland theme I think I actually shuddered! However, when I started thinking about what might make a good masculine Christmas card I realised that it would fit in quite nicely with the tic toc theme over at CCT. I've kept the card layout simple and used strong contrasting colours.

Take a peek at the three blogs above to see all the gorgeous DT cards.

Right, thats it from me tonight...I'm off to watch a bit of Strictly Come Dancing! Thanks for popping by today and for all your lovely comments.
