Baking Queen!

Hello there - Happy Saturday! Hope you're having a lovely weekend.

I have a card for you today which is inspired by my other favourite hobby....baking! People who stop by my blog regularly will know that I love nothing better (other than card making) than spending some time in the kitchen whipping up a batch of cakes or biscuits.

I've made this card for two challenges...firstly the colours were inspired by this week's challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge where the theme is "hot chocolate". I like the mix of browns and creams, and the little bit of pink is for the marshmallows that I like on the top of my hot chocolate!

Secondly, the theme over at Allsorts this week is recycle....so I decided to use the ribbon that was tied around my envelopes when I bought them recently. I like recycle ribbon a lot as its always so expensive to buy new, so my friends and family know to save any ribbon they come by and give it to me! I've also been known to cut the hanging ribbons from inside my tops and skirts!

I'm off now....Joe's just come home from the garage and I'm hungry! Thanks for stopping by today.

Bee Mine!

Morning All,

Can you believe that January is nearly over?! Wow - time is flying by as quickly as it did in 2010! It's nearly time for that day when we're engulfed by images of love and red hearts again! In celebration of Valentines which also happens to be the theme over at Charisma Cardz this week...here is a little card I put together last night...

I used a sketch from Cute Card Thursday as the layout for this card, its a nice clean and simple sketch - very easy to use. Anyone who popped by my blog yesterday might recognise the papers on this card...yes I liked them so much that I've used them again!

Right, work is calling and I have to get my skates on....thank goodness it's Friday! Thanks for popping by my blog today

Chocolate!

I love chocolate...in my opinion you can never have too much of it! I'm not really a fan of white chocolate because it tends to be a bit too creamy for me...but I love milk chocolate and dark chocolate....and most things chocolate flavoured! Saying that I'm not a huge fan of Easter eggs...the chocolate always seems a bit fake!

Anyway, inspired by this thought and the sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday this week I created this card....

The sketch is very cute and fun to use....I love those cute little circles! Hey, what can I say...I'm easily pleased! I've used pinks, creams and browns for this card. The stamp is one I've had for a while, but I never really use...not sure why...it always makes me smile! Check out all the DT cards on the SSW blog - they're all so gorgeous!

I've also been practicing my iced roses as I'm teaching the Guides how to make them in a couple of weeks time. They're quite easy to make, but look fab! These ones are quite small and really need to be a bit thiner to make them look more delicate.

Right, I better get going...I'm making biscuits this evening. By popular request I'm making more iced ring biscuits!

Thanks for popping by today,

Animal Antics!

Evening All!

A late one from me this evening as I am just back from our annual Brownie trip to the panto! We saw Mother Goose this year and as usual the Brownies loved it! Before I went I needed to create a thank you card for my sister to give to one of her Guides and this is what I came up with....

Now there is a reason for there being an elephant on this card...and its not Lucy's favourite animal! No, my sister Lorna was given a "knit an elephant kit" for Christmas two years ago, on the box of the kit is a smug looking 8 year old with the finished item so we all thought it must be easy! Lorna started knitting the elephant, but struggled because she found she could knit, but couldn't purl (I sympathise with Lorna as this is my problem with knitting too!!). One week Lorna mentioned her knitting woes to her Guides, and Lucy offered to finish the elephant for her. This was before Christmas....but we now have the finished elephant!

This card is perfect for this week's challenge over at Simon Says Stamp Challenge where they have an "animal antics" theme this week! Pop over to their blog to see all the fab DT cards!

Right, its late and I'm sleepy so I'll wish you all goodnight! Thanks for popping by today, hope to see you again soon!

Anniversary Monkeys!

Morning! I'm munching a delicious cinnamon hot cross bun this morning, its so yummy! Here is a wedding anniversary card that I finished off last night for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge this week....

Their challenge is "its a couple thing"...I thought this cheeky pair were just perfect! Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it would definitly make Joe smile if I gave him this card on our anniversary! I've also distressed the edges of my spotty paper and therefore I'd like to enter this in the distressing challenge over at Paper Sundaes.

I wanted to try and make it a unisex card...so either a man or a woman could give it...I've done this using pink and blue backing papers. However, I think maybe its just a bit too girlie??

Right, as usual I've got to get my skates on! Hope you have a good day!

Lots of sweet circles!

Hello there - I can't believe it's Monday evening again already...where does the time go?? Well, I had a fab weekend...I've been catching up on my movie watching and managed to squeeze in Shutter Island and the newest Alice in Wonderland this weekend. I also saw Rick Astley and the Luddites....if you ever get the chance to see them I highly recommend them! Rick Astley is an awesome drummer and we had a brilliant evening!

This evening I've been catching up with Lorna and Anika at Krispy Kreme....yes I can confirm I ate (or inhaled as Anika pointed out) more than one!! Very naughty I know! I've also got a very naughty but nice card to share with you this evening.....

This sweet card is perfect for two different challenges...Cupcake Craft Challenges has a food theme this week and Stamp Fairy has a "Circles and more circles" theme.

I love this cute little stamp, its that free one again (maybe thats why I like it so much!!) and I couldn't resist adding some glitter on the icing again! I also love this dotty backing paper, it always makes me smile!

I'd like to say a huge well done to work Becca...who passed her theory driving test this morning....I knew she could do it! And I'd also like to remind Anika of the questions she needs for tomorrow!!

Thanks for stopping by today, if you get the chance pop over to the other blogs too...the DT cards are gorgeous!

It's a male thing!

Morning! Hope you're well today.

I'm very glad its Saturday at last....I had a mini lie-in this morning which is always great! Plus I've got two whole days with not much planned...therefore I see loads of crafting and baking ahead of me! Woo hoo!

I have a little card for you this morning perfect for the man in your life...

I usually really struggle with male Birthday cards....I'm much happier with girlie colours and sparkles! However, I got some fab stencils free with a craft magazine this week and one of them was a shirt and tie stencil. I'm pleased with this card, and when mum saw it she said I could easily turn this into a Father's Day card too!

I wanted to keep the card quite bright and fresh, so I decided to use a zesty green paper along with the bale brown, instead of the usual blues that I'd probably use for a male card. I used 3D sticky pads under the collar of the shirt  to make it stand out. There is still a bit of a girlie touch on the card....as I couldn't resist using flowery paper for the tie!

I'm going to enter this in two challenges - Allsorts has a male/boy theme this week and Paper Cutz has a your choice theme (so I've gone with male birthday card!). Pop over to both of these blogs if you get the chance as they feature some really gorgeous DT cards.

Thanks for popping by my blog today. Watch this space, I'll be back with more cards over the weekend and maybe some tasty cakes or biscuits too!

Bags of fun!

Hello everyone! Hope you're all keeping well!

I'm just back from the cinema, I went and saw the King's Speech this evening and I have to say it was a wonderful film. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it that much, but it really worked it's magic on me! I've also managed to finish off a card that I am rather proud of......

This pretty easel card is perfect for several different challenges that I've come across:
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Bingo! I've chosen Buttons, Flowers and Glitter
Paper Sundaes - Birthday challenge - I've chosen an easel card

Don't forget to pop over to all the blogs mentioned above to see all the gorgeous DT cards!

I've got some lovely plans for this weekend....on Saturday evening we're seeing Rick Astley! Yes, that 80s pop icon is paying a visit to little old Kingston! I hope you've all got fab plans too!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, hope you see you again soon!

More haste less speed!

Well, can you believe that its a Wednesday evening again?!? Well that only means one thing - another fab sketch from Arlana at Sweet Sketch Wednesday! As usual I'm rushing to get to Brownies and Guides and I'm trying to do far too much in a really short amount of time! Tonight that has resulted in me being rather disappointed with my efforts!

I wanted to use the sketch to make a bright and cheerful get well card, but I think my choice of colours might leave the poorly person with a bigger headache!

Hmmmm....I'm really not sure about this card! No time to dwell however, I've got to get my Guider leader uniform on and get some quizes printed! We've got several new Brownies joining the pack this evening, so it'll be a lovely getting to know you evening - lots of games, quizes and singing!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Perfect Match

Morning Peeps!

I just thought I'd pop by and share a card with you whilst muching on some yummy toast and raspberry jam (homemade by mum!). I also thought I'd carry on with the romantic theme that I set yesterday....plus the theme at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week is Weddings! Pop over and see all the DT cards - they're all gorgeous!

I've decided to opt for a quite simple card, perfect for one of those couples who just ooze love...you know...the perfect match! The bride and groom are cut out from paper found in my stash, I've embellished them with a little glitter glue. I've used 3D sticky pads to make the bride and groom really stand out from the card.

Right, its about that time....work is calling so I better get my skates on! Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I look forward to seeing you again!

Love is in the air!

Hello there! Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Well, its been a very wet day in Surrey again today...at least its not snowing! I've got a little card that I'd like to share with you....you can tell its nearly that time of year when there are red hearts everywhere! When I got home from work today I found an exciting looking envelope waiting for me....it was the stamps that I won from a recent Cute Card Thursday challenge! So I decided to use them straight away! Thank you The Stamp Shoppe - I love them!

I've used the latest sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp for the layout and the pink colour scheme was inspired by the pretty in pink challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy. The theme this week at Secret Crafter Saturday challenge is "with love" and the theme over at Paper Play is "cutie patootie" - both of which I think fits in with this card perfectly!

I've also managed to fit a little baking in...yes again! I think I've found a new passion in the kitchen...I LOVE making and decorating biscuits! Here are the ones I've made today.....these are butter biscuits, covered in milk chocolate and then decorated with little chocolate stars and some pink edible glitter! I can also confirm that they are indeed yummy as well as pretty!
Right - I can't believe its after 10:30pm already....time is flying by at the moment! I'm off to bed in a bit so I'll say goodnight! Thanks for popping by today.

Friday Challenge

Morning!

Before I head off to work I thought I'd share a quick card with you...this one is inspired by the "no designer paper" theme at Whoopsi Daisy and the monochrome challenge over at Cute Card Thursday.

I decided to go with shades of blue for my colour combo, using plain coloured paper to frame the stamped image and my sentiment.

I love this stamp and have already used it loads, in the set I've got this small tree and a much larger one. I stamp it in plain black in and then add stickles glitter glue for a little sparkle.

Instead of designer backing paper I decided to create my own background using two flower stamps and some blue ink.

Right, I'd better get my skates on...work is calling!

Thanks for popping by today, hope to see you again soon.

I've been baking...again!

Hello there! I hope you're keeping well!

I've had such a lovely evening, my mum cooked dinner for me...I made some cards...and I tried my hand at baking some biscuits. I'm usually more of a cupcake kinda girl, but my friend Anika bought my mum a fab baking book for Christmas and I was inspired to try some of the recipes! On behalf of mum I'd like to thank Anika....I love the book!! This evening I made some butterscotch cookies and some iced ring biscuits....I remember the iced rings from when I was a child and couldn't wait to try them out! They might not look as good as the pictures in the book, but I can confirm that they taste fab!!

Now onto the card I made! I've used a sketch from this week's Simon Says Stamp Challenge and used the theme from this week's Stamp Fairy Challenge (layers & buttons!).

The sketch was fun to use and allowed me to use lots of layers for the Stamp Fairy Challenge. I love this cute stamp and the sentiment is one that I use a lot as it always makes people smile!

Ohhh...I'm so lucky!

Hello there! What a miserable, grey day in Surrey today!

I came home yesterday to a very exciting package from Faye, it was my prize stash from her quiz at the begining of the month. Faye really spoilt me with some fab stash....

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Faye, this is very generous of you and I'm going to have lots of fun crafting!

I've had a lovely day today...I had a physio session booked, I needed to have my bloods taken for some routine tests and I had a dentist and hygenist appointment....so I decided to take an annual leave day. I managed to get all the boring stuff done this morning, which meant I had a lovely afternoon pottering, washing my car (my goodness it was dirty!), baking and crafting! Bliss!

It's also a lovely day beacause it's a Wednesday and that means a new sketch to play with from Sweet Sketch Wednesday...

This is a fab sketch...I'm not normally keen on circles on cards because I haven't cut any dies to cut them out and so they always end up wonky! However, today I decided to make the centre of the card on my computer...thus I have straight circles...if that makes any sense! The cute image is one of the ones I won from the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge blog last month, its from Stitchy Bear Stamps.

Right, its gone 5pm...I'd better start getting ready for Brownies and Guides, its our first week back since Christmas so I'm sure the girls will have lots of gossip to share!!

More cupcakes!

Hello there!

Dinner last night was lovely...although the service was soooo slow.....I hate it when they're so slow in a restuarant that you forget which course you're on!! Anyway, when I came home I had time to finish off a card I was making for the latest Sketch and Stash challenge.

Cute sketch don't you think? I enjoyed using this one....I used various pink backing papers, along with some gorgeous ribbon. The image is a new Papermania stamp (new stash) that I bought after using the free one I got with a magazine last week! That marketing ploy worked wonderfully on me!!

The Sketch and Stash Challenge also have a DT call this week and I would really love to be part of their team.

Right, work becons....plus I've got a doctor's appointment and a physio session today!! Better get my skates on!

Lots of circles!

Hello there, hope you're having a fab Monday!

I'm going for dinner to celebrate my friend's Birthday in a bit, but I just wanted to share a new card with you first.

The challenge this week at Cupcake Craft Challenges is "something new", it can be anything new...a baby, a home, a job...new stash! I decided to make a new baby card as I haven't made one in ages. I haven't used this stamp before, but I think its quite cute!

There is another challenge included on this card too, can you guess what it is? Paper Sundaes have a circle theme for their challenge this week...so I decided to use this fab dotty paper, along with some cute buttons to embellish my card.

Both blogs feature some gorgeous DT cards, pop by and take a peek!

Faye - I hope you've popped by...I wanted to tell you that the stamp you liked from yesterday's card is a rubber stamp from Hero Arts - I got it from Simon Says Stamp!

Right, I better go and get ready.....I'm looking forward to some yummy dinner at Prezzo this evening. I completlty forgot to add this yesterday.....

Happy Birthday Sheree!

Pimms Cupcakes!

Morning! Hope you're having a good weekend!

Remember yesterday I said I'd been baking...well this morning I've been decorating and here are the finished cupcakes....I've created a Pimms cupcake....and topped it with orange and strawberry icing.

I'm pleased with how they look, although I did rush things a little and so the icing isn't as well mixed as I would have liked. I hope they taste good too! The cute stand was a Christmas pressie from Joe, aren't I lucky?

As well as decorating the cakes I've also done a spot of quick crafting....I wanted to make a clean and simple card for the PaperPlay challenge this week...not an easy thing to do for me! I love my colours and embellishments!!  While looking through my stash which is at Joe's I found an old rub on sheet of borders that I've had for ages and I decided to have a bash! I can't remember the last time I experimented with rub ons, but I do remember not liking them very much! However, this morning I found them quite easy to use....

I've used the rub on borders, a stamp, a black pen and a teeny bit of glitter on this card, I hope I've kept it simple enough for the challenge! Since I've tried the rub ons for this card I'd also like to enter it in this week's "try something different" challenge over at Sweet Stampin Challenge.

Right, I'd better get going...I'm running late!

Happy Saturday!

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a fab weekend!

I've had a lovely Saturday....I had a tiny lie in, followed by a mooch around the shops and the lovely monthly market in Farnham. I then came home and did some baking (there are Pimms cupcakes cooling in the kitchen at the moment!) and I made a card! Doesn't sound like much, but I really enjoyed myself!

I decided to make a new home card...this is dedicated to me...as 2011 is the year that I'm finally going to move out of my parents dining room! I haven't found anywhere yet, but I've decided its about time I found my own place again! Poor mum and dad have put up with me for the last three and a half years!!

The card features purple and black papers, along with a fabric house. I actually found this cute fabric at the market this morning....along with some of those buttons! I've also added some ribbon for the chimney and along the bottom of the card.

I'm going to enter this in three challenges....the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge called for tons of texture....I hope fabric, ribbon and buttons count! The Allsorts challenge called for some fancy folds...I always forget how much I enjoy making easel cards! Finally Simon Says has given the theme "new beginnings". Pop along to all these blogs to see some fab DT cards.

Right, think I might go and decorate my cupcakes now...I'm waiting for Joe to come home from the garage so we can go out for some dinner!

I'm soooo lucky!

Evening all! Thanks for stopping by today, its lovely to see you!

I'm in such a good mood today as Lady Luck seems to be smiling down on me at the moment. Do you remember last week Sharon awarded me the Stylish Blogger Award....well my week has just got better and better!

Last Saturday I found out that I'd won last months prize at the Secrect Crafter Saturday Challenge. Then earlier today I found out that I won the prize last week on Cute Card Thursday. Finally I checked Faye's blog to see that I'd won her 12 Days of Fluffness quiz! How exciting! Thats lots of lovely new stash for me to play with! Thank you everyone for opportunity to win such fab challenges!!

Talking of challenges...here is my card for today

The fab layout for this card comes from this fortnight's sketch over at Sunday Stamp & Sketch - its a very cute sketch to use. The image is for this week's challenge over at Cute Card Thursday where the theme is "Out with the Old". I've had this stamped image for over a year now...I got it in an image swap and never used it..not sure why, its very cute! Finally you'll probably spot the paper tearing there (one of my least favourite techniques!)...this is for the Paper Tearing challenge over at Crafts & Me...thanks ladies for pushing me out of my comfort zone!

I think I might just have to invest in some lottery tickets this weekend....see if the luck continues!

Thanks for popping by,

Feeling a tad bit girlie!

Hello there!

For today's card I've come over all girlie! No surpirse there really....I think everyone knows how much I love my girlie cards! After work and before my Brownie planning meeting I had fun playing with a new fab sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and a lovely new cupcake stamp that I got free with a magazine!

I'd also like to enter this card in the new Creative Cottage Challenge where the theme is "something new". This stamp is part of a new Papermania range which is simply yummy! It hasn't come out very well in the photo, but I've added some sparkle to the icing of the cupcakes using my trusty stickles!

I forgot to tell you yesterday...I had my first new experience of 2011....while at my physiotherapy session yesterday I was stabbed with needles!! Yes, I got to try accupuncture...and to be honest I'm not sure that I liked it! It was supposed to help with my knee and to help me sleep (I'm finding it really hard to sleep at the moment - both dropping off and staying asleep seem to be a problem!!).

Right, talking of sleep I need to at least try and get a decent nights sleep! Thanks for stopping by today, hopefully I'll see you again soon.

New Years Resolutions

Hello there, good to see you!

So its the beginning of another year (anyone know where the last one went?!?) and its that time when we all think about the new year and what we want to achieve. Last year I wanted to believe in myself more and to do all those things that I never make time for...how did I do?? Well, I've thrown myself into my crafting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love showing off my creations and was so pleased to be awarded the blog award last week! I haven't really done all those things I never make time for....I'm always too busy crafting.....So, I've decided to roll that one onto this year!

I've also decided to do one thing that makes me smile everyday....it can be anything as long as it brings a smile to my face! For example dancing...I love to dance...I'm not very good at it (and seem to get worse with age), but when you're bopping in the living room who cares! So, I'm going to smile my way through 2011...dancing and singing to my heart's content (poor Joe!)....and eating chocolate....and hopefully discovering some new things that make me smile too!

My card for you today is for several challenges....Creative Crafts asked for a card that features a new year's resolution and Sweet Stampin asked to see our favourite song...this card sums up both of these things....

I love "Dancing Queen" and as my sister loves to remind me until quite recently I thought the lyrics were "you can die having the time of your life"....I still sing "die" instead of "jive"...it makes perfect sense to me!!

I'd also like to enter this in the Papertake  Weekly challenge this week where they have an anything goes theme!

Check out all the fab DT work on these blogs for some gorgeous cards!

Thanks for stopping by today!

If you're ha-pea and you know it!

Hello there...look I'm posting before 10pm! Woo hoo!

I've had a lovely afternoon crafting while watching the movie Grease on the TV. Joe has come home from the garage early, so we can have a nice evening together too!

The challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge this week was a little challenging for me to say the least! The theme is white is white and they want to see projects that are predominantly white....as you all know I love colour...lots of colour! However, I gave it a go and here is my card....

I like the idea of using peas on my cards....just think of the possibilities!

I've used a piece of green card and a piece of white card for the backing and then made a little pea out of more green card. I've added googly eyes and a hand written sentiment. I'd also like to enter this card for the free & easy challenge over at Whoopsi Daisy and the something new challenge over at Paper Sundaes. My something new is the fab black new I used to outline the letters - it's a Japanese pen that I actually bought for Joe but that seems to have made it into the craft kit!! Whoops!

Right, I'm off...I've got dinner to make!

Thanks for stopping by today.

A little bit of support!

Ohhh...another late post from me! I didn't realise what the time was! I'm a little bit sad this evening because there is only one more day of the Christmas madness before the real world becons and I have to go back to work...boo hoo!!

I had a lovely surprise when I looked on the Secret Crafter Saturday challenge blog yesterday....I'd only gone and won the December prize! How cool! I get to choose 5 digis from Stitchy Bear Stamps...how lucky am I?!? Thanks everyone!

The challenge this week over at SCSC is buttons and bows, the DT have created some gorgeous projects for inspiration....and here is my card:

I'm at Joe's at the moment, and crafting here is always a little bit basic because I really don't have that much stash here (even if Joe thinks its too much!!). I didn't have any buttons at my disposal so I made some! I've used pink backing paper, topped with some gorgeous grey patterned paper...I also added a little ribbon and a bow to the corner. I then made my card bra from more pink card, adding a little ribbon bow and my handmade buttons...and a cute little pearl.

I'm not sure where the inspiration for making a bra thank you card came from, but I think its cute and perfect to give to any of my friends after they've listened to my latest moaning! Hee, hee!

I'd also like to enter this card in this week's challenge over at Allsorts where their theme is "Thank you"....I wonder how many bra cards they'll get?!?

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you pop by again soon!
