Home Sweet Home

Evening All! Hope you've had a good day.

I have a little card that I'd like to share with you this evening....

In the background I've used plain black and red backing papers and some black and white polka dot backing paper that I created myself using a new stamp! On top of that I've used a house die cut from white card and backed with red card, I've used 3D sticky pads here to add some dimension to the card. I embellished the house with black pen and some black glitter glue.

I then created three paper flowers from punches, layering the flowers and adding a little more black glitter glue. I attached the flowers to the backing paper using some thin black ribbon, finally I added my sentiment.

The colour combo for this card comes from The Shabby Tea Room...this week their theme is "classic elegance" using red, white and black. Take a peek at the gorgeous DT cards for some inspiration. I'd also like to enter this in the "make your own flowers" challenge over at Allsorts this week. The fab DT have got really creative and made all kinds of flowers - take a peek at their blog too!

An awesome Sunday!

Hello there! Hope you're well! I've had such a super Sunday! This morning I spent a couple of hours at Make It! in Farnborough....I spent way too much money on crafting goodies and met some really inspirational crafters. I got to make a card at the Stampin Up stand and I learnt all about Fimo clay and how to decorate pencils and other items! It was fab!

I came home and took a peek around my favourite crafty blogs to see what new challenges I could try and guess what I found on the Sweet Stampin blog...the lovely ladies have awarded me their Spotlight Award! I'm always so touched when someone picks me, there are so many talented crafters out there. Thank you Sweet Stampin Ladies...I'm wearing my blinkie with pride!

After that excitment I decided to do some crafting! I started with some biscuit decorating...I took some cupcake biscuits that I made yesterday, outlined them and then flooded them with icing. It took ages, but I'm pleased with the finished biscuits! I also tried my hand at a fimo decorated glass jar...which was so simple to do and looks fab!

I then got stuck into some card making...and I have to say I love this card! When I was at the show I started talking to some crafters about stamping and using distressing ink, something I haven't done before. Someone showed me some of the techniques and I bought myself some pink distressing ink to try at home.

I used the pink ink on white card to make some unique backing paper, which I think looks cute with the dotty papers! On one pink piece I added a Birthday sentiment that I bought today and on the other I have added a yummy cupcake! I really enjoyed making this card, and I think I'm going to experiement some more with stamping and the different effects you can create.

I'm going to enter this card into the "oh so girly" challenge over at Sweet Stampin this week, as well as the "sweet treats" challenge over at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge. Finally I'd also like to enter this card into the "lets get sentimental" challenge at PaperPlay. Pop over to all these blogs to see some super cute cards!

Afternoon tea and a fab award!

Hello everyone, hope you're all well and having a lovely weekend.

First I want to say a huge thank you to Lilsweetpea who I mentioned on my blog earlier this week as a fab new discovery of mine. I popped back yesterday to see what new gorgeous cards she has created to discover that she has given me the Liebster Blog Award, which is an award creaed to bring new blogs to light. I am truely touched to be passed this award from such a talented crafter. If you haven't already popped by her blog I'd recommend a peek!
The award is a great way to share blogs with others, and to put blogs under the spotlight. There are so many talented crafters out there, so its fab to be able to highlight some of the ones I've found recently and love. I'd like to pass the award onto the following blogs:

Take a peek at all these blogs, there are gorgeous cards to be seen at all. You guys can take the award from my blog and pass the award on by creating your own list - have fun!

As well as getting this award, my weekend has been lots of fun already because today was Crafternoon Tea! Lorna hosted and made fab sandwiches, lemon meringue kisses and scones. Becca, Anika, Sheree and Rafina all joined in the fun...bringing with them yummy cakes, pink bubbles and cheese straws (yes I am still full now!).

After eating a huge amount of yummy food we got stuck into the crafting...this time we had biscuits to ice (which Anika was very good at), felties to make and clay to model with. A special mention to Sheree who choose a very detailed feltie and finished it beautifully despite saying she was rubbish on more than one occasion!

I want to say thank you to all the girlies for joining Lorna and I today, we hope you had as much fun as we did! I'm off to Make It at Farnborough tomorrow...really looking forward to some retail therapy!

Feeling a bit girlie....again!

Ok, so I couldn't resist...give me spare time and I either surf the web or make cards! Tonight I did both...inspired by SSW earlier I decided to surf the web some more and see what other gorgeous blogs I could find....there are so many out there, but one that grabbed my eye is The Shabby Tea Room (do you think it was the name that grabbed my attention?!?). The DT create gorgeous cards on a weekly basis and their blog is absolutely gorgeous too - take a peek!

Their challenge this week is buttons and bows, so I thought I'd give it a go. I decided I wanted to create a really girlie card for this challenge.....

The layout for this card is from this week's sketch challenge over at Papertake Weekly. Take a peek at their blog to see how the DT used this sketch to create some fab cards.

The backing paper on my card is a beautiful pearlised gold card with the pink pattern over the top, I think its really pretty and suited this card. I've used ribbon and pink twine on my pink paper teacup, along with some cute tiny buttons (why do things get cuter when they are smaller??). I've also used a white pen to add some detail on the teacup and the pink backing paper. I think I got a bit carried away! I added another tiny button and a cute bow to the bottom corner for extra girlie appeal. I'm really pleased with this card too - thats two in one evening...I'm on a role!

While looking at the Shabby Tea Room blog I came across Lilsweetpea's blog which is also so gorgeous! As well as fabulous makes you can watch fab tutorials. Lilsweetpea has over 400 followers and to celebrate she is giving away some gorgeous candy - take a peek here!

Right, thats me done for the evening I think - my bed is calling (yes I know its only 10pm, but I'm sleepy!!).

Coffee and cream!

Hello there! Woo hoo! It's a Wednesday evening...it's 7:30pm...I've had dinner and made a card! What's going on I hear you ask! Well, it's half term this week, so I get a welcome break from Brownies and Guides. I love my role, but do need a week off every so often! It's so nice not to be rushing around!

Anyway, I mentioned a card....and here it is....I'm really pleased with this one...

As it's a Wednesday the fab layout comes from Sweet Sketch Wednesday. If I'm honest I found this sketch a little complicated, but I perservered and I'm pleased with the end result. The image choice and gorgeous flower are for the Penny Black at Allsorts monthly challenge where the theme is "say it with flowers". My colour combo is for two challenges...firstly Simon Says Stamp has a "coffee and cream" colour combo this week (they've also got a DT call this week) and Paper Sundaes have called for masculine colours...I thought the green paper went very well with my browns and cream. Pop by all the blogs mentioned above and see the gorgeous DT cards that have been created - they're fab!

I've got a fun weekend to look forward to...Saturday is Crafternoon tea with the girls...we're all meeting at Lorna's for a homemade afternoon tea on Lorna's vintage china. Then we're having a crafting session in Lorna's fab new craft room...I really need to decide on what craft we're doing this time! I love these days...nothing better than drinking from a bone china teacup and eating delicious cake with your friends! Then on Sunday I'm going to the Make It show in Farnborough to spend lots of pennies! I can't wait!

I'm exhausted!

Really I am! I was still wide awake at 4:30am this morning! My alarm went off at 6:50am and I nearly cried!! My stupid body is driving me mad at the moment....bedtime comes around and I'm just not sleepy! Come mid morning and I'm exhausted and then it's a long wait until bedtime comes around again!! Does anyone have any suggestions? Any tips?? Anything???

Right, enough of my moaning! I have a little card for you! Monday means one thing...it's time for a new Cupcake Craft Challenge and the lovely ladies have set us a super fab challenge this week! The challenge is "cake 'n' ice-cream"....how fab is that??

You can pick to feature cake or ice-cream or both on your card! Maybe I'm a little bit predictable, but I went for a cupcake! I've used a lovely ginham baking paper, which I stamped with a needlework stamp.

This kinda reminds me of the cupcakes I made this weekend! I decided to take these cakes into work with me as a treat for my work colleagues....I packed them up....took them to work...but when I got there they had all fallen over into one big butter icing mess!! My colleagues were all really sweet and ate them anyway.

Right, I can tell I'm sleepy...I'm rambling now! I've decided to take a craft magazine and a mug of cocoa to bed....fingers crossed I fall asleep!

A spooky time and a card!

Hello there, hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Well, I've been a busy bee and so I think this might be a long post today! Do you remember the other day I mentioned I was going on a ghost bus tour in London? Well I went on Thursday evening with my sister and we had such a good time! I laughed so much that I cried! I haven't enjoyed a bus trip so much before!! The tour took place on an old 1950s/1960s double decker bus and it lasted about 75 minutes and took in all the sights of London's ghosts! If you're ever in London I'd highly recommend taking a ghost bus tour!

Of course I've also been crafting this weekend too and today I've made a lovely easel card inspired by three different challenges.....Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge asked for some fancy folding....Sweet Stampin Challenge gave me the colour theme of red, white and blue and finally Allsorts asked for something inspired by nature.

As you probably know I love this stamp of the tree and use it as often as possible! I love the fact that it can be used at any time of year. Pop by all the blogs mentioned above to see how the DT members used the themes this week, the cards are all gorgeous!

As well as crafting I have also been baking...something I haven't done that much of later....but Joe bought me a lovely mixing bowl for Valentine's Day and I wanted to use it! Yesterday I made some lovely fruits of the forest cupcakes using jam for the flavouring. I've iced the cupcakes with some lemon butter icing and added some pink sugar glitter for a bit of sparkle!

I've also treated myself to Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts book...I already own and love her other craft encyclopedia and can't wait to get stuck into this one! Right, I'm off to read my new book and decide which project I want to try first! Enjoy your evening and I hope to see you again soon!

Putting on the glitz!

Morning everyone...hope you're having a good week so far!

I've been working on a special card for someone's Birthday and I wanted to share it with you because it fits in with several challenges this week. This card is for someone lovely who is really into her music, I hope she doesn't read my blog...but just in case she does I'll keep this anonymous and a little bit vaugue! I've started making larger cards recently and this is one of those - A4 in size.

Ha, ha...ok I've realised my mistake...her name is on the card! Ok, so now I've got my fingers crossed that she dosen't visit my blog!

So, which challenges does this fit with? Firstly Papertake Weekly has a "putting on the glitz" challenge this week...you all know I love a little bit of sparkle and this card is no exception! I've used a combination of sticky gems and stickles on each of the little rectangles to add a little glamour! Don't forget to pop over to the Papertake blog and see the gorgeous DT cards!

The second challenge is one of my favourite themes...Simon Says Stamp have asked us to create our own embellishments this week - fab! I've made my own little dress, pair of wellies and a champagne bottle....all of these embellishments are attached to the card using 3D sticky pads to make them pop from the card. I really enjoy creating things from paper and so this challenge was right up my street! The DT have created gorgeous embellishments for their cards...lots of lovely flowers can be seen on their blog.

Thanks for stopping by today, I'm glad that I seem to have got the crafty bug back again! See you soon.

Too much purple??

Hello there...told you I'd be back! Can't miss a Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch!

It's been another busy Wednesday...work, a physio session, Brownies and Guides...so I always enjoy coming home and having some craft time! It's World Thinking Day on the 22nd February...a day when all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts think about the other members of the Guiding community around the world. Each year we have a theme and raise money for a charity and the guiding community....it's amazing to think that there are young women all around the world celebrating the same thing. At Brownies this evening we learnt about lots of different coutries in the world and we all brought in food from different countries - in total we represented 26 different countries! At Guides we explored the World Thinking Day theme which is gender equality and empowering women - we talked about what this meant and how small things can lead to big changes...it was a really interesting discussion!

Back to the crafting....and I think I might have used a bit too much purple on this card...I got carried away!

I loved using this sketch...thank you Arlana! Pop over to the SSW blog and see all the wonderful DT cards, they're all so gorgeous! The image is from Stamp Fairy...do you remember I won last week's challenge? This fab little fellow is called Kasi and he was drawn by Gerda...I hope I've done him justice!Isn't he cute?! I love the colour combo...all that purple and a splash of bright green...I think its really cheerful!

Right, I've got to get going, I've got a special card to finish off! Tommorow evening I'm going on a ghost bus tour in London with my sister, we've wanted to go for ages and I'm really looking forward to it!

Thanks for popping by today,

Meow!

Morning All,

Hope you're all well this morning! I thought I'd share a quick card with you before work...pop back later today though because I'll have this week's SSW card too! I missed the Sir Stampalot Challenge last month, so decided I needed to get creating before another month flies by! The theme this month at Sir Stampalot is "All Creatures Great and Small" and the DT have created some gorgeous cards featuring all kinds of animals! Here is mine....

I love this stamp...I've used it so much since buying it! I think the cats are sooo cute! I decided to keep the card quite simple and I haven't added a sentiment because I wanted to be able to use the card for any occassion.

This is paper that I've had in my stash for ages and I've never used it! I found it in my drawer next to the brown card that features on the card,....and I was inspired!

Hope you have a good day....see you later!

Happy Tuesday!

I am sooooo confused! I had yesterday off work...yes I spent a lovely afternoon with Joe...no I'm not a Valentine's Day fanatic...we just decided to spend some time together because Joe's working so much at the moment....the bad bit is that it's really confused me!! I don't know what day it is!! Joe bought me a lovely mixing bowl for Valentine's Day....ha, ha...I never thought I'd utter those words! The mixing bowl is lovely though and I'm looking forward to baking some yummy cakes!

I haven't really been entering many card challenges online recently....not sure why...I thought it was because I was busy doing other things...and I have done a lot recently...but I've also had lots of time when I just didn't fancy making any cards! I suppose everyone needs a break every now and then! Well, this evening I've decided to enter a lot of challenges, so this may be a long post....I'm sorry!! First off I have a card for two different challenges....

Since I haven't been entering many challenges I was really surprised and delighted to see that I have won last week's challenge over at Stamp Fairy....thank you ladies! I have a lovely new badge on my blog and I get to choose a digi image from their shop! Fab! Their challenge this week is "basically white with a touch of colour"....and surprisingly I didn't go for pink! I love this little bug...he's a Stamp Fairy image and I think he is actually a space man...but I think he looks great as a cold or flu bug! The card also fits in nicely with the "its all about the sentiment" challenge over at Allsorts this week. It'd make me smile if I was ill!

My second card fits in with more challenges....it may look like a Valentine's card...but really it can suit lots of occasions!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Cupcake Craft Challenge - I heart you - a card with at least one heart on it
Paper Play Challenge - hearts and flowers, but not Valentines
Cute Card Thursday - hearts and flowers

I've had fun making these cards this evening, thanks for stopping by to see them!

Wednesday 9 February 2011

It's Wednesday again...Brownies, Guides and time for a sketch!

I really do enjoy Wednesdays...they go by in a bit of a blur, but they're always fun!

We've got 6 new Brownies at the moment and I introduced them to the world of Brownies this evening... I taught them about good turns and our promise, we practised our salute and I told them the Brownie story without them getting too bored! After that I taught the Guides how to make royal icing roses and we decorated biscuits. I also love Wednesdays because I get to play with a new sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday!

I've managed to leave all my favourite stash at Joe's this week, so I've made this card using papers and cards that are at home. I rummaged through my papers and found papers I'd forgotten about! The sketch is fab, take a peek at the SSW blog to see how the DT used it.

I'd also like to enter this in the Stamp Fairy Challenge this week where the theme is lace and hearts with no red or pink. The cute house image that I've used is a Stamp Fairy image, I found it on their freebie page....isn't it just fab? I'll be popping back to buy some images later! I've gone with a piece of burgandy lace and some green hearts! I'd also like to enter this in the Papertake Challenge this week, their theme is "Have a Heart!".

Do you remember I mentioned that I saw a ballet last week with Becca and Sheree...to be honest we all felt a little unsophisticated as we had to Google the story of the ballet during the interval to figure out what was going on! I've since heard from quite a few people who've done this mid performance....so I'm not feeling so bad now! I did enjoy the performance, I just wasn't very good at seeing the story!

Hee, hee...bet that made you giggle!

Thanks for popping by today, I'll see you again soon.

Knickers in a twist!

Morning All,

Well...it doesn't seem that long since I posted last and I'm really not sure that I've actually slept last night! All I can say is roll on bedtime!!

The card I have for you this morning is one of the reasons I went to bed so late last night and is for two different challenges....the Cupcake Challenge this week is "seeing red"...they want to see us feature some red on our cards. The challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is "banish the blues" and they want to see something humourous on our cards. Hopefully this card fits the bill....

So, my something red is this fab pair of red pants! And my humourous bit is the sentiment which is based on a quote. I think this is a fab Birthday card! I love funny sentiments or sayings on cards and I think this is the best that I've found on the internet so far! I hope it made you smile!

I had a wonderful surprise when I popped by the Cupcake Challenge blog yesterday, I've won a prize! I'm really looking forward to my Polkadoddles CD arriving, it looks brilliant - thank you everyone!

As usual, work is calling so I better get my skates on! See you soon!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today,

Busy, busy, busy!

Wow! Its been a while since I've visited here...I'm not entirely sure what happened to last week, it just seemed to fly by me in a blur! I hope you're all keeping well!

I just wanted to stop by a share a new card with you that I've created for two challenges.....

This picture isn't the best I'm afraid, I'll try and get another one this week and upload that instead. Do you remember I made a Hap-pea Birthday card before? Well I told you the peas would be back! I think they make a really cute Valentines Day card for the not so mushy couple (I'm thinking of my boyfriend now!!). I love the eyes they make me smile and I think it makes a nice change to see a green Valentine's Day card!

This card is for the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge where the theme this week is Valentines and the Allsorts challenge where the theme is "it must be love, love, love!" Both blogs have some gorgeous DT cards featuring this week, pop by if you get the chance!

Hopefully I'll be back soon with some more cards.

Old Macdonald Had a Farm!

Morning Peeps! Hope you're all well on this chilly morning!

I had a lovely evening last night...I went to a Pampered Chef party! If you haven't been to one before its a bit like a stylish tuppa-wear party! They have all kinds of wonderful kitchen products and gadgets...someone hosts the party and led by the host you all help to cook things! Its products are great and its just a lovely evening!

Today I have a card for this week's challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenge and to be honest I think I might be stretching their theme a little bit...but I'll let the lovely cupcake ladies be the judge of that! Their theme is Old Macdonald Had a Farm and here is my card:

Ok, so its not the fist thing you first think of when someone mentions a farm and it doesn't appear in the song...but you find bees on farms so I'm hoping the Cupcake Ladies agree with me! This cheeky little Bee wishing everyone a lovely Birthday is a fab digi image from Bugaboo Stamps, and I just love him!
As you know I can't get enough of polka dot papers and I think the black looks just fab with the yellow and lilac!

I'm off to work now, so I hope you have a lovely Tuesday...see you soon! Thanks for stopping by today.
