Something New

Hello there!

Happy Saturday! I hope you have had a fab week!

I'm really excited this weekend....as you are reading this (if its still Saturday!) I am at One Aldwych with Lorna, at their afternoon tea Masterclass! We get to meet Chef Dominic and learn the secrets of a professional afternoon tea! Read all about it next week on our afternoon tea blog!

I'm back today with a new challenge from My Time to Craft and this week we'd like to see you feature something new on your card.....now this can be a baby, a home or maybe a job. We don't want to see new stash though...it has to be a celebration!

I recently was asked to make some thank you cards after someone had their baby and wanted to thank their friends and family for the gifts and cards they sent. I found this super cute baby digi image and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge too....

What a cutie pie!

I've coloured my image with my Promarkers. I then decided to go with a card that wasn't gender specific....so I went with yellow and this cute star backing paper. Finally I added my sentiment.

A difficult challenge for me....

Hello there,

Me again! This time I am back with a new challenge from My Time to Craft.

Now, every so often us crafters come across cards that we just don't like making. For me its Sympathy cards....now don't get me wrong, having lost my own dad at a younger than expected age, I know exactly the sentiment behind the cards and was touched by the amount of sympathy cards that me and my family received during that sad period. And maybe that's exactly why I struggle when I am asked to create one...I'm not sure. All I know is that I prefer to steer away from the usual imagery found on Sympathy cards and try and express the sentiment using different images.

So when I found out that the challenge this week at My Time to Craft was "Sympathy" cards I got my thinking cap on and searched my stamp collection for a suitable image....

I have used this lovely stamp on several different cards now, each featuring a different sentiment and I love how versatile it is. I have stamped my typewriter onto a blank kraft card, stamped my sentiment and then added a little detailing with a white pen. I am really pleased with how the card turned out.

Sketch Time!

Hello there!

Happy Saturday! I hope you are well and had a lovely week!

I'm here today with a fab sketch challenge from Sweet Stampin. Here is the sketch that we would like you to follow on your cards....

This is a lovely sketch to use....the only other thing you need to include is some kind of stamping!

This week was Joe's sister's Birthday....so I used this sketch to make her a card.....

I wanted the card to be bright and cheerful.....and of course include some cake!

I love these backing papers, the colours are so cute together. I've stamped my birthday cake image, added a little bit of colour with my Promarkers and a tiny bit of sparkle with my Stickles!

I am sorry for the wonky photo....I took the photo and then completely forgot to check it before I popped the card in the post to Jade! Whoops!

A Tropical Christmas

Hello there!

I hope you are keeping well!

Welcome back to another challenge from Christmas at Sweet Stampin....this month we're really making you think. Or maybe it was just me that found this challenge tricky?? We want to see your cards featuring a tropical Christmas!

I got really stuck with this one....so stuck that I actually Googled "tropical Christmas cards" and discovered this fab image.....

Now, I have to say that I love the image, I think its fab....but that's about all I like on this card!

I wanted to go with slightly unusual papers to go with my slightly unusual Christmas card theme....but now that the card is finished I am not sure it all goes together!

Bit late now though!

Buttons and Ribbon

Hello there! Happy Saturday!

I hope you've had a fab week. Mine has been filled with good news!

Firstly one of my lovely friends has got engaged, her partner completly surprised her. Becca is a bit of a twitcher, she loves wild birds and David proposed to her at the RSPB headquarters in Bedfordshire while listening to  "Close to You"...how romantic!

I also recieved some good news of my own....a little while ago I told you that I had entered my little afternoon tea blog into the UK Blog Awards. Well, from the 95 fab blogs in the food and drink cateogry, I got shortlisted! The first phase of the awards was open to the public vote, so I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for me. I am so chuffed! Next is the judged phase, which is followed by the awards ceremony in April. I am so excited!

This week's challenge from My Time to Craft is a lovely embellishment challenge, as we want to see buttons and ribbon on your creations. You need to feature at least three buttons and a gorgeous piece of ribbon.

I made my card for the lovely Becca and David to celebrate their special day.....

I have used a plain grey backing paper and some gorgeous patterened papers that feature birdies and bird houses. I have gone with a grey ribbon, and three old buttons. My cute birdie image has been coloured with my Promarkers and I have added some personal details into the heart.

I'm really pleased with how this card turned out, featuring birds and having a slightly vintage feel - all perfect for the happy couple!

Show us some Luuurrrvveee!

Hello there!

I hope you are keeping well and had a fab week!

Well, its the beginning of that month which is tinged in pink and red, and covered in hearts! Yep, its February already (does anyone know what happened to January??) and Valentines is just around the corner! With that in mind, we decided to get organised this week at Sweet Stampin and we'd love to see your cards that celebrate Valentines or Love.

Now I found this rather fab image for my Valentines card......

Hee, hee! Isn't it fab?

Not exactly your usual Valentines card, but I love it!

I decided to go with a bold colour combo to go with my bold image choice, along with that gorgeous flowery backing paper. I think it makes for a wonderfully quirky card! My image is coloured with my Promarkers and I have added a paper heart embellishment.
